Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová were pioneering figures of modern glass art and among the most influential artists in the history of Czech studio glass. Through their unique collaboration—Libenský as an artist and designer and Brychtová as a sculptor and master of glass casting—they transformed glass into a powerful medium of contemporary sculpture.
Beginning in the 1950s, their work pushed the boundaries of what glass could be, combining monumental form, light, color, and architecture. Their sculptures are represented in major museum collections around the world and have shaped generations of glass artists.
The Stanislav Libenský Award honors their legacy by supporting emerging artists and celebrating innovation in contemporary glass.
